Assembly Theatre 2.0

The Assembly is back sporting a new facelift, honed ambitions and hopes for a better 2022. We welcome you to The Assembly 2.0! As the year progresses and we navigate the ups and downs of the current COVID-19 pandemic, feel free to check in with us as we implement new programs, seasons (and even some bling) thanks to collaborations with new artists and old friends alike.

Don't worry! Our values of galvanizing independent creatives looking to share their work has never changed, and we hope to see you in person to witness our newly invigorated image once we are all able. So stay tuned, stay safe and stay creative. We will see you soon!

Our Story

In 2016, the space formally known as Unit 102 Theatre, was forced to leave its home at 376 Dufferin Street after 5 years of being in operation. In September 2017, they partnered with Leroy Street Theatre, to open what is now The Assembly Theatre at 1479 Queen Street West. Although the Assembly Theatre is no longer home to these companies, it has since grown to expand its mandate of providing independent and emerging artists with affordable performance space, into actively seeking new modes of outreach in order to better prioritize its use by under-represented and marginalized artistic communities.

Our Mission

To assemble and empower artists to create with intention.
